...Much higher flows along creeks and small streams will occur this weekend due to the expected near record high temperatures... Snowpack at the 8,000 to 10,000 foot elevation is ripe (water laden) and will be melting by this weekend. Afternoon temperatures at the 9,000 foot elevation are forecasted to warm into the lower to mid 60s from Saturday through Monday. Overnight low temperatures are expected to range from the upper 30s to the mid 40s through the same time period. Only isolated showers and a few thunderstorms area forecast from Saturday through Monday. The combination of melting snowpack and isolated rain will result in higher flows along creeks and small streams this weekend into next week. Remember, during active snowmelt runoff, mountain creeks flow the highest during evening and overnight hours, through the early morning. Do not attempt to cross a fast moving creek or stream at these times as the power of water will easily carry you downstream.
